How does your meal prep service work?

We offer a weekly delivery of meals to Kona, Waikoloa, Waimea, and Hilo, delivered right to your front door on Monday afternoons. Our current meal subscription package includes two portions of three different meals for you to enjoy throughout the week. You can also choose any of our convenient pickup options to save on the delivery fee!

Where do you deliver?

Our team personally delivers all meals to residents of Kona, Waikoloa, Waimea, Hilo, and everywhere in between! If you don't live within our delivery range or want to save on the delivery fee, choose one of our convenient pickup options in Kona, Hilo, and Waimea where your meals will be held cold until you arrive!

What types of meals do you offer?

We currently offer Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner meals. Each week we offer a rotating menu of one seafood based meal, one chicken based meal, and one beef and or lamb based meal. We may soon add an options of soups, sauces, and desserts. Stay tuned!

Are your meals customizable to accommodate dietary restrictions or preferences?

At this time, we do not offer customized options, but all our meals are made with naturally gluten free ingredients, and may include small amounts of organic dairy, such as butter. If you have a dietary restriction, such as dairy allergy, you can customize that within your profile so you never receive meals with dairy!

What sets your meal prep service apart from others in the market?

We are dedicated to quality. We start with the best quality protein - pasture raised, grass fed, wild caught. We seek out the most fresh seasonal produce grown right here in the Hawaiian Islands. We prioritize quality carbohydrates such as ‘ulu (breadfruit), sweet potato, and whole grains like quinoa. We also completely avoid the use of canola oil or vegetable oil in our kitchen. Last but not least, our meals are 100% gluten free, even down to the sauces.

What days do you offer pickup and delivery?

Currently we offer pickup and delivery on Monday afternoons. Someday we hope to accommodate a second production day later in the week.

How do you ensure the freshness and quality of your ingredients?

We shop for fresh produce only in the few days leading up to prep day. We also source as much as we can directly from the farmers, to ensure produce is harvested as fresh as possible before preparation.

Are your meals ready-to-eat or do they require cooking?

Our meals are 100% ready to eat. Some meals may be enjoyed cold, such as salads, some meals you’ll prefer to reheat before enjoying.

Do you provide nutritional information for your meals?

Yes! Basic macronutrients can be found for each meal on our website and on each meals label. These include total calories, protein, fat, sodium, and carbs.

Can I freeze the meals if I don't plan to eat them right away?

Some meals can be frozen, such as beef stew or curry, but it is not recommended. We highly suggest most meals be eaten within the week.

How long do the meals stay fresh in the refrigerator?

Most meals should stay fresh up to 4 days in the refrigerator. Please consume any seafood dishes earlier in the week, as these won’t last as long.

What steps do you take to minimize food waste?

Minimizing food waste is not only important for our planet, it’s a smart business strategy. We take every effort to only purchase what’s necessary for the meals that are ordered. Many of the produce scraps that are created from the preparation of the meals, such as onion and carrots peels are repurposed into broth for future meals, before being composted into our garden bed.

Are your packaging materials recyclable or environmentally friendly?

Are there any commitments or subscriptions required to use your service?

Nope! You may place a one time a-la-carte order or order a subscription for the best price. You may cancel, pause, or skip weeks on your subscription at any time.

How far in advance do I need to place my order?

Our order window closes Thursday at 5pm HST for delivery the following Monday afternoon. Menus are posted for at least a few weeks out so you can always order far in advance.

Can I provide feedback or request specific meals for future menus?

Yes! We always appreciate feedback and requests! Email us at meals@heartbeetfoods.com with your thoughts!

Why is the price so much higher than other meal prep businesses?

Our gourmet meals are made with organic locally grown produce and protein, as much as possible. Our dishes are chef-inspired and offer a variety of flavors and textures not commonly found in the home kitchen. We are NOT just serving bland grilled chicken, steamed broccoli, and rice.

What is your cancellation or refund policy?

You may cancel your order or subscription any time before the weekly order cutoff of 5pm HST on the Thursday prior to the Monday of delivery to receive a full refund. Our team begins planning and shopping as soon as the cutoff ends, so unfortunately, if you cancel after the cutoff, you will be charged for your order and all sales are final.
